Damon Jordan Barnes is a publisher, creative director, filmmaker, and actor based in Maryland and New York City. He is the publisher and global editorial director of NUNAR, a Maryland-based youth culture magazine, and contributes to ICON America and Wild Side Media.

His fluency across editorial storytelling, creative strategy, and production has fueled central collaborations within DMV subculture, supporting the rise of homegrown artists such as Domo Wells, Verde Madera, Noochie, Blaxian, Simi Liadi, Ari Melenciano, and more. As global editorial director at NUNAR, Damon has led the magazine’s region-to-region editorial vision and production footprint into Los Angeles, New York, Paris, and Lagos.

As a model, Damon has worked with local and global brands including SOMEWHERE, Mingo By Domingo, TELFAR, and Apple. He is known for acting roles in We Shall Overcome (2019) and Straight to Hell (2019).

Damon has done video work with the Sunrise Movement and Green New Deal Network and is currently a communications & strategy volunteer for the Free Billie Allen Campaign. Damon is also a member of the National Writers’ Union and the DC Music Journalist Alliance.
